David Holland, MBA
Non-Executive Director
In 2005, when Dave first started consulting to us, we set out an ambitious 3-year plan to grow The Audio Suite. He insisted that we set incredible, yet measureable, goals for an enterprise that might have been considered just another regional one-desk, two-room studio, albeit with some pretty big ideas and ambitions. A further challenge was that for several strategic reasons, we dared to locate our dedicated, cuting-edge digital audio post-production facility in Birmingham, rather than London. But we were also very clear that The Audio Suite would offer both the quality and spirit of Soho.
So we wrote down 3 incredible things we wanted to achieve within those 3 years: to grow from 1 mixing studio to 3, and be in our own building; to have a major Hollywood credit from those studios; and to be recognised by our peers. In the end, we missed the completion of all 3 of those targets by just 21 days... During that time we moved to new, bespoke premises; received a post-production credit on the Shekhar Kapur movie New York I Love You and won Gold at the New York Film Festival for the film 'Steamy Windows', which was Sound Designed and mixed at the new Audio Suite studio complex. Plus lots of other fabulous stuff.
Along the way, we've had the most fun that you can have in business with your clothes on and we're not done with growing just yet ...
Dave joined The Audio Suite as a Non-Executive Director in February 2011 and has brought to the Board a wealth of management experience that includes spells as MD to a major Airline service-provider, managing 600 staff across 3 major UK airports: Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton; and latterly, as CEO Europe, Middle East & Africa for the world's largest Business Coaching organisation. He is the author of best-selling business books 'Your Business Rules OK' and 'Life Rules OK' and is the co-founder and CEO of the Results Rules OK organisation; as well as an international speaker on business strategy, who has presented in 20 different countries.
He presently divides his time between France and the UK and when away from the corporate world, he rides a Harley Davidson Night Rod motorcycle; and, as an ex-professional rock drummer, he regularly gives neighbours the impression that he's building a shed in his garage-come-drum booth.
