We are an online-only audio post production service, offering dialogue editing and mixing, dialogue restoration and a Sound Producer service for feature films and TV drama.

Audio post-Production that doesn’t CO2t the earth…

Why Us?

We provide bespoke, high value-added audio post-production and also understand the nature of short-notice or modest fee bookings. We are as happy and committed to applying our extensive audio post-production skills and experience to a short-form, non-broadcast project, as we are to fully supervising a theatrical-release feature film in the role of Sound Producer; and our extensive track-record in audio post-production runs to many hundreds of hours of prime-time television programmes, feature films, TV and cinema commercials, internal, external and business-to-business communications, podcasts and best-selling talking books.

Sound Producer

Most people understand that in the music industry, a record producer is tasked to oversee the recording, arrangement and mixing of hit singles and albums for global artists. So put simply, our Sound Producer is the equivalent for movies; and Neil Hillman MPSE is our Sound Producer, and he’s at your service to bring together the planning, recording and mixing of your project’s dialogue, effects, atmospheres, backgrounds, Foley and score…

With his considerable experience and enviable CV as a Production Mixer on location, as well as his work in audio post-production as a Dialogue Editor, an ADR Mixer, a Sound Designer, a Re-recording Mixer and a Supervising Sound Editor, Neil’s Sound Producer role means a single-point of reference for the pre-production, production and post-production of ‘all things audio’ in any project; with a responsibility for overseeing the quality, style and strategy of a soundtrack, as well as developing the full emotional impact on audiences.

Why is this last point important? Because whilst sound is routinely said to be 50% of the product, research shows that sound is actually 80% of an audience’s emotional experience. Why leave that to chance when this necessary help is so readily at hand?

Clip Clinic®

Our state-of-the-art ‘Clip Clinic’ is at hand to process remarkable sound restorations on dialogue clips that would either be left out of the edit or marked for expensive re-recording. Sadly, it’s not foolproof, and it doesn’t replace the need for an experienced sound recordist on set, but it could be a ‘get out of jail card’ if a recording is irreplaceable. Using a unique blend of the latest AI tools, combined with decades worth of experience dialogue editing, affordable and accessible sound restoration is now available to any overwhelmed director, picture or sound editor, struggling with speech clips that are swamped by extraneous noise.

‘Sun-downer’ service

Our Sun Downer service is designed to serve a global audio post-production client base, remotely: a round-the-clock, file-based audio post-production service, that takes advantage of the time difference between Australia, the UK, and the US. (Conveniently, Brisbane is 10 hours ahead of GMT and 17 hours ahead of PST.)

And it can mean an increase in productivity by up to a third on a project’s timeline!

Simply upload the assets at the end of your working day, and have your ‘for approval’ material sitting waiting for you on your server the next morning… We do the work -‘overnight’ – whilst you sleep. Or party. (Or whatever!)

‘We used The Audio Suite in Australia on our recent time-sensitive project for an English Premier League major sponsor. We had a video conference briefing call and uploaded assets at the end of our working day and received back overnight a ‘for approval’ mix. The next day we added our mix notes, and our specific delivery requirements, and again overnight we received the final mixes we required. It was fast and efficient, and our client was delighted with the result’.

Stuart Whitehouse – Head of Production, Slate&Mortar

‘Thank you so much for your work in the documentary. We have showed it to our colleagues and they’ve commented on the good audio edit, so a heartfelt thank you from all of us!’

Our backstory: Australia…

Dr Neil Hillman

The Audio Suite’s Australian studio is based in Brisbane – the capital of Queensland; a place enticingly described as being ‘beautiful one day, perfect the next’…

And who wouldn’t want to look out of their studio window to see palm trees and blue skies? Certainly not the Audio Suite’s founder Neil Hillman MPSE; who had spent more than 30 years either working in darkened mixing theatres in the UK, or recording drama and documentary sound on location in the kind of changeable weather – including extreme heat and cold – that the northern hemisphere has to offer.

When – after completing a self-funded Ph.D. concerning human emotions and Sound Design, and during the height of Covid in the UK – the opportunity to relocate in Australia presented itself, it proved impossible to resist the average of 283 days of sunshine that create the gorgeous climate of Brisbane… As was the desire and vision to create an online training school – the Sound for Moving Pictures academy – and to also offer one-to-one coaching for developing professionals, accessed through a dedicated website.

Our Australian Audio Suite ‘outpost’ (see what we did there?) still works works under the guidance of Neil; meaning this ‘new kid on the Brisbane block’ comes with a back-story of extensive experience and an enviable track record of providing audio post-production services for major studio and independent feature films, High End TV drama, documentaries and commercials.
